Route

The Start/ Finish is within Springfield Park , the area of the park 115 metres to the South of the public car park and toilets being the preferred start / finish location . The route uses the unclassified road and path network up to Inverkeillor and back (see attached plan) On leaving the start and entering Kings Drive the route turns right towards Cliffburn road then up to East Seaton, through Seaton Estate on the public right of way and joins Seaton Road and heads Northwards towards Kinaldie Holdings and remains on that road to Inchcock where it continues on the road Northwards via Cotton of Inchcock and towards Lunan Bay. The route then turns East on a public footpath towards Inverkeillor at Newbarn Cottages. At Inverkeillor the route re-joins the Road network outside the primary school and heads back towards Cotton of Inchcock and follows the road leading to Kinaldie. The route then turns Eastwards towards Auchmithie and re-joins Seaton Road and follows the outgoing route back into the finish.

Starting Waves of 50 participants will be released every 2 minutes from 1200 hours.

A cut off time would be applied to ensure that the race is completed in a reasonable time to ensure minimal disruption to other users of the route.

First Aid would be present.

The route will be signed at all junctions and where busier road crossings are encountered they will be marshalled. Runners will be given a safety brief prior to the run commencing as this will be an open road event.

Covid & Start/Finish Arrangements

Due to the current situation concerning Covid social distancing will be encouraged and sanitisation facilities will be available at the start/Finish and at the Waterstop. Covid controls will be in line with Gov’t guidance at the time of the event.

Participants on finishing the event will receive a medal and goodie bag and encouraged to disperse.

Licensing & Permissions

A number of permissions and licences will need to be obtained from Angus Council to undertake this event especially those surrounding the route safety and traffic management issues. We believe that the key to this event being successful is to have adequate and correctly located signage and route marshal points ensuring safety of both participants and other road users

Environmental Considerations

Waste bins will be located at numerous locations and Marshals will undertake litter picking on individually designated sections of the route. Porta -loos will be located at the Cotton of Inchcock, the designated water stop on the route.

Any Path erosion will be repaired at events cost if damage or excessive wear is caused by event or its participants.

Local landowners over whose land the path networks being used cross have been approached and advised of the proposed event. They are all supportive of it taking place.
